The short version of the Dunning-Krueger Effect from Wikipedia is the Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people of low ability have illusory superiority and mistakenly assess their cognitive ability as greater than it is. The cognitive bias of illusory superiority comes from the metacognitive inability of low-ability people to recognize their lack of ability; without the self-awareness of metacognition, low-ability people cannot objectively evaluate their actual competence or incompetence.[1] On the other hand, people of high ability incorrectly assume that tasks that are easy for them are also easy for other people.

In a nutshell DKE says that people of low ability don’t know they are stupid and think they are smarter than they are, and higher ability people think that the people of lower ability are smarter than they really are.

The low ability Trump Supporter then believes Trump’s lies and cannot discern between editorial opinions and facts, or doesn’t care about facts, thinks things are simple that are not and can deny their own Racism because they are to stupid to know what a Racist is. They are to stupid to know that facts matter, that truth matters, that they are being lied to and unaware that they are stupid, but have the vision that they are smart and know things.
